Frances Adamson AC
Governor of South Australia

The Governor represents and is responsible to the South Australian community. The Governor’s role is as the local ‘head of state’ for South Australia, exercising constitutional, ceremonial and community duties.

Our club is honoured to continue with the tradition of having the Governor of SA as an Honorary Lion member of the club. The Honourable Frances Adamson AC, like the governors before her, has supported our Lions Club, attended special events and hosted the Annual Lions Children of Courage Awards.

Sandy Verschoor
Lord Mayor of Adelaide

Sandy was elected as an Area Councillor in the 2015 by-election and served as Deputy Lord Mayor from June 2017 to November 2018. She has had a career in both the public and private enterprise, not-for-profits, and Local and State government, including three years as General Manager City Culture and Community Services for the City of Adelaide.

As Lord Mayor, Sandy is focused on making Adelaide the most liveable and creative city in the world. She is determined to grow our city’s economy and keep costs low for residents and businesses by reducing red tape as well as strengthening Adelaide’s global reputation for arts and culture, climate change action, and entrepreneurialism.

Throughout our Lions Club’s history, it has been tradition for the Lord Mayor to be an honorary member. In 2019, we were honoured to welcome the Honourable Lord Mayor, Sandy Verschoor, as an Honorary Lion Member.

Grant Stevens
SA Police Commissioner

Our club has a long history of partnering with SAPOL on various projects. It is a tradition for our Lions Club to welcome, and induct, the South Australian Police Commissioner as an honorary member of our club. We are honoured to have the SA Police Commissioner, Grant Stevens, as an Honorary Lion Member.
