We are very excited to announce that we launched The Little Roarers Cubs Club in partnership with Annesley Junior School on Tuesday 19th of February, 2019. At the launch, the club name and logo were revealed, and the Charter President and Vice President announced.
Through Lions Clubs International, Cubs are traditionally children of Lion members who attend meetings and do kid-friendly activities. Our program operates completely different and is run more like a Leos or Lions Club, but for 5-12 year olds. It is a club in its own right. The Club is led by the children, and supported/guided by Lions from The Lions Club of the City of Adelaide as we are the supporting club.
In November 2018, two (2) trial sessions were run introducing students to Lions Clubs International, what lions do locally, nationally and globally, and the concept of starting a Lion Cubs Club. The students have already started brainstorming ideas for a club logo and club name, together with learning about existing projects and developing their own project ideas. They really enjoyed taking ownership of the club idea and are excited that they can take the club in whichever direction they like.
Community service and helping others is so important, and you are never too young to start. These students are already showing their empowerment to the idea that they can have a direct influence and impact on their local community and beyond. We look forward to supporting our Lion Cubs as they develop skills in areas of leadership, project development and management, and community service, and can’t wait to see what projects they come up with.
The cubs will learn about:
- Community service
- Leadership skills
- Public speaking skills
- Helping the environment
- People living with disabilities
- Disadvantaged people in the community
- Project management
