On Sunday, February 26th, a group of our Club Lion Members, partners and friends joined together at the Comfort Inn Regal Park in North Adelaide for the Hear Me Roar! Project Working Bee!
We stuffed 185 port pillows, round cushions and heart-shaped cushions that had been pre-measured/cut/sewn by our Lion members. We went through approximately 15kg of stuffing. That’s a lot of stuffing! We also stitched closed a large pile of those cushions and port pillows.
Our Lions and friends also laid out items collected and received by donation, for 60 gift bags for patients undergoing chemotherapy. Items included pens, notebooks, tissues, hand sanitiser, lollies, toiletries, just to name a few examples. We even had a few kid volunteers come along to pack the little bags of sweets for the gift bags.
We are also very excited, and thankful, to the Glenside Lions Club for donating a large number of books for the gift bags. We’ve also had another Lion Friend, Lou, knit and donate a large pile of fabulous beanies. We appreciate your support and thank you.
We had a great afternoon with a lot of laughs and jokes. Some of our Club members who have been Lions for many years shared their stories and memories of their time with Lions, which was very interesting for our younger and newer members, and partners/friends. Great team work and Lion spirit showed by everyone involved.
A huge thank you to the Comfort Inn Regal Park for providing us with a large space set up for us to work comfortably, and for providing tea, coffee and biscuits. We needed the extra energy! Greg and his team are big supporters of our club and this project.
