April started off looking like a quiet month, and then the event list started to grow.
On the 8th of April, we supported the Adelaide City Council at the old Le Cornu site in North Adelaide, for the Eighty Eight O’Connell Street Party (aka the block party). What a beautifully hot day and a great crowd and atmosphere. Food stalls, arts and crafts, entertainment. A great day for the family.
As a result of the North Adelaide event above changing dates from March to April, of course these things happen, we called on our friends at the Prospect-Blair Athol Lions Club to help us with another event that was booked on the same day for Parkinson’s SA. Thank you for supporting us and enabling both events to be catered for. Great to know we can call on another Lions Club to assist when needed.
On Sunday April 15th, our members were out in force once again for another Fred’s Van in the City. It was a cold night, and the clients appreciated a hot bbq meal cooked by our Lions to go along with the food supplied by Fred’s Van.
And then came the Anzac Day event. Lions and friends arrived at the Torrens Parade ground from 4:30am to setup and cook a bacon & egg breakfast and sausage sizzle. We had a very busy period after the Dawn Service, and this continued on and office throughout the day with the Anzac Day March starting from North Terrace, and the festivities continuing back at the Torrens Parade Ground after the march. We were honoured to be asked to help cater for the event, and appreciated the support of the Adelaide RSL and Adelaide City Council.
Once again, thank you to all our Lions, families, friends and supporters for your support throughout the month with events and various other activities.
