We held our annual club handover dinner on July 2nd at the Rydges Adelaide. A fantastic evening celebrating the past year’s achievements and looking forward to the year ahead.
We welcomed the Lord Mayor of Adelaide, Sandy Verschoor, as our guest speaker and she was also inducted as an honorary member of our club.
Immediate Past President Andrew Stacey awarded a number of awards to our members. The club also voted and Lion Petrea was awarded the Lion of the Year Award for the second year. Congratulations to everyone.
Prospect Blair-Athol Lions Club President Gary Pavlich conducted the handover in Vice District Governor (VDG) Tony Pederick’s absence and did a fabulous job. Congratulations to our new Club President, Petrea Stacey.
On July 13th, a number of our club members travelled to Gumeracha for the District Governor’s Handover dinner with now Past District Governor (PDG) Phil Bowman and our new District Governor, Kevin Masters. It was a great night hosted by the Torrens Valley Lions Club. Lions Petrea and Andrew were welcomed to the 2019/20 district cabinet, with Andrew joining the Global Leadership Team (GLT) and Petrea becoming the district webmaster. VDG Tony was awarded the Lions International President’s Appreciation Award and President Petrea receiving a Progressive Melvin Jones Award. Congratulations.
The Hear Me Roar! Project expanded to include supporting Camp Quality. A large number of blankets were purchased and delivered to organisations and shelters in Metropolitan Adelaide for those in need.
July also saw the President and Vice President of the Little Roarers Cubs Club handover the reins to the new President, Imogen, and Vice President, Lucy. Congratulations girls. We look forward to the semester ahead and what the Cubs Club gets up to.
Immediate Past President Andrew organised a social lunch at a local cafe for our newer members over the past six (6) months to ask questions and simply get to know other new members. It was a great afternoon with a lot of discussion and laughs.
We ended the month cooking a BBQ at SAHMRI for a professional development day for staff.
