Our final club dinner meeting was held on December 2nd, and what a fabulously Christmassy night it was. We welcomed Belinda from Anglicare and had a surprise guest, Santa, join us for dinner. Rydges Adelaide outdid themselves with the Christmas decorations, there was a lineup to talk to Santa, and not just the kids (including a few of our Cubs), a crafty tree building competition, sneaky elves hidden around the room, a Christmas card exchange raffle, DGE Tony was awarded his 10 year chevron by Zone Chairperson Evelyn, and we even inducted 2 new members. Lots of fun, laughs, Christmas spirit and fellowship. The highlight of the night was donating a giant Santa sack filled with items to Anglicare for them to distribute to people in need.
On Sunday December 15th, a team of our Lions attended Fred’s Van in the city, to cook up a storm for those in need, alongside the team from St Vinnies. This is one of our longstanding projects embraced by our members, and we look forward to continuing to support the project in 2020.
The following day, a small team of Lions assisted in catering for the Regis Aged Care Carols by Candlelight event at Marleston. A lovely afternoon/evening filled with great food and beautiful carols.
Thank you to all our Lion members, families, friends and supporters for all your time and dedication. It has been a fantastic year.
We hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas and we look forward to another fun and successful year in 2020.
