On Sunday October 20, 2023, the Service Clubs Association of South Australia (SCASA) held the annual Premier’s Community Service Awards at the Glenelg Golf Club.
Each year, this event brings together service clubs from across South Australia, including Lions, Kiwanis, Zonta International, Rotary and Soroptimist International clubs. It is an afternoon of meeting incredible volunteers and being inspired by the amazing projects and community service they are all involved with.
The Lions Club of the City of Adelaide were honoured to have won the Youth Award category for their Lions Children of Courage Awards this year. This is a long-running project of the club that has seen hundreds of children living with a disability recognised. The Lions Children of Courage Awards provide recognition to the many young people severely disadvantaged by a variety of life-threatening and/or life-altering disabilities. What these young people have achieved is truly remarkable and highlights the dedication of their parents and professional supporters (including speech therapists, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, special education teachers, social workers etc.).
In addition to the Youth Award, the Lions Children of Courage Awards also won the top award for the afternoon, the Premier’s Community Service Distinction Award; such an honour!
Congratulations to all the service clubs, nominees, award recipients, volunteers and the SCASA committee. Another truly inspiring event.
