It was Mad March in Adelaide, with the Fringe Festival and a whole range of other events and festivals around the city and the state. Adelaide Hellenic Lions Club jumped right into Mad March and held the Glendi Festival in Victoria Square. What an amazing event! A number of members from the City of Adelaide Lions Club volunteered their time at the Festival whether it was on the bar serving drinks, or selling raffle tickets. Our members were proud to support another Lions Club and a sensational event. Our hats go off to Adelaide Hellenic for organising an incredible 3 day event.
In March, Lions were cooking up a storm for the homeless and hungry in the city for Fred’s Van. We also opened nominations for the 2018 Lions Children of Courage Awards. These awards recognise the efforts and achievements of children living with a physical and/or mental disability. Nominations close in early July 2018.
Our March dinner meeting featured Todd Sloan, the 2017 City of Adelaide Young Citizen of the Year Award Winner as our guest speaker. An inspirational presentation. As April would see our dinner meeting fall over Easter, we held a second dinner meeting at the end of March instead. We were fortunate to have Rochelle Mutton, an Occupational Therapist from Motivate Kids, come along and present to our members. Another fantastic presentation.
