I enjoyed my first year as President and am honoured to have your support and the opportunity to continue on for another year. It’s a fulfilling but challenging role, and I know that what I have learnt in the past year will assist me in the year ahead.
We have seen an increase in member participation across our various projects and events, and I look forward to continuing to build on this as we develop our existing projects and embark on new ones that all members are interested in getting involved with. They are your projects, the member’s projects, in which we serve the community. Together we achieved so much in the past year, and I look forward to us continuing to kick goals in the year ahead.
This year, I’d like to see us continue to build our membership not only in terms of numbers but also active involvement, extend our reach in promoting our club and projects, both online and off; and launch some of the great ideas that members have brought up in terms of club operation and projects.
One of these ideas, which has several members very excited and eager to jump right in and get started, is opening our very own club op shop. Something that will be explored further and hopefully we can make it a reality in the very near future. How good would it be to have such a potentially fruitful income that could also be a club house?
As always, if you have any ideas or suggestions, let us know. This is our club, our way and we want everyone to be involved. I would like everyone to own and be passionate about the projects we run and that is why I want to hear your ideas. My role in being president is to support and nurture your ideas and projects, to see you drive these projects and see you celebrate the successes these bring.
2020/21 will be a big year, and in July next year, one we will look to celebrate in a special way as it will mark our club’s 60th anniversary. 60 years of Lions in Adelaide, the first club in South Australia. This is something to be very proud of and feel honoured to be apart of. So I’ll be looking to put a committee together to organise a celebration to mark such an occasion. If you’re interested, please let me know.
