This month Maverick has been steadily progressing in his out and about training. He recently went to Burnside Village where he got to experience going up and down in a glass elevator. His dog companion was a little nervous so Maverick was a steady calming presence for her.
He also recently went to Westfield Marion. This is one of the biggest outings a Hearing Assistance Dog can do. Maverick walked in like he owned the shops and was amazingly calm and confident the whole time. When we were walking upstairs near the glass mezzanine he realised he could see people walking below and got very excited. He has still been enjoying some free time and going on his nature walks; he has been a good dog to ease our newest Cadent Trainer Carly into handling of Hearing Dogs.
Maverick has made a very good improvement in his sound training this month. He has now advanced to not needing any food to help him work his sounds, though he is now working even faster to get me to the sound at the end as he knows he gets treats for finishing the work. He has been doing well with working the smoke alarm and has also been having to work around Helper Cat Penelope who has become very active in trying to play with the dogs whilst they are working.
