Wow! What another busy month we have had at The Lions Club of the City of Adelaide! Here is our November recap.
The month started with our Club dinner meeting at the Public Schools Club on November 6th. We were fortunate to have our District Governor, Megan Butler, and her partner Peter, attend and present to our Club. We honoured Lion Warren Wood on his 50 years of Lion Membership and Service. What an achievement. We also inducted two (2) new members, Lions Juan and Jessica. Congratulations and welcome. We then had our Club Working Meeting on November 16th at the Comfort Inn Regal Park.
Then followed the crazy busy weekend. On Saturday November 18th we supported the Craniofacial Children’s Christmas Picnic which was held at the Botanic Gardens after the Christmas Pageant in the city. What a fabulous day and exciting event. On Sunday November 19th it was a double whammy with a BBQ for the Donate Life SA Rose Planting Ceremony at Bonython Park, followed by feeding the homeless and hungry alongside Fred’s Van in Gawler Place.
On November 20, a few of our members attended our Club Lunch Meeting at the Public Schools Club.
We then had another busy weekend. On Saturday November 25th The Lord Mayor of Adelaide, Martin Haese, joined members of our Club in Hurtle Square to unveil a park bench and plaque in honour of our Lions Club and to commemorate 100 years of Lions International. Then on Sunday our Lions were back to work with running a BBQ with a sausage sizzle and bacon & egg sandwiches for participants and fans of the grappling tournament at the Kensington YMCA throughout the day, while other Lions and friends were at the Comfort Inn Regal Park sewing and stuffing cushions and port pillows for the Hear Me Roar! Project.
Thank you to our members, families and friends for supporting our Club with our many events.
