Maverick’s foster carers have been away on a short holiday and so Maverick has had a little holiday of his own with one of our other foster carers (Brooke and her family), who are waiting for another pup to become available to foster.
Brooke’s two little, old dogs liked Maverick as soon as he arrived as he was very calm and respectful to them. He couldn’t work out at first what the funny looking animals in the neighbouring paddock were. These miniature goats certainly weren’t the Llamas that he has at home! He was very good meeting them through the secure fence.
He loved his trip to the beach and also watching the netball practice. He wasn’t bothered by the whistles, screaming children and nearby traffic noises. He was very friendly with young children who approached and patted him.
Maverick travelled very well harnessed on the back seat of the car to Hindmarsh Island. He loved wandering around the campsite (on lead with Brooke) and sniffing the new smells (weemails). He was happy to interact with other people and dogs. They also went to the Goolwa markets that were very busy and had a lot of different stalls. Maverick walked extremely well on lead and was not overwhelmed by the large crowd and new environment.
Maverick is getting a lot less stubborn on his walks. He can now walk along with his foster Carer without continuously putting the brakes on. After a walk around the town centre of Goolwa, he was rewarded with a walk along the beach. He was very happy but not keen on getting his paws wet!
Brooke’s whole family have loved looking after Maverick and Brooke’s father has a particular soft spot for him.
