On Sunday 5th of December, 2021 The Lions Club of the City of Adelaide hosted the first Christmas Spirit Event at the North Adelaide Community Centre.
What a fabulous afternoon it was, with fifty (50) lions, cubs, family and friends coming together to decorate Lions mini fruit cakes to be donated to the Hutt Street Centre and Adelaide City Fred’s Van.
Chris Burns, the CEO from the Hutt Street Centre, had a tough decision judging the best decorated cakes (adult and child winners) but the winners were Annette Slater from the Lions Club of Golden Grove, and Kara Heidrich, former member of the Little Roarers Cubs Club. Congratulations.
In addition to judging, Chris found time to jump right in and decorate a couple cakes himself. He did a fantastic job too.
It was fantastic to welcome lions from Golden Grove Lions Club Lions Club of Elizabeth Playford Inc Lions Club of Adelaide Hellenic Inc. and Clare District Lions Club and cubs from Pedare Pride and the Little Roarers Cubs Clubs.
And of course, a big thank you to Coles Greenacres Cake Studio Adelaide and Whip-It-Up Cake Supplies for your donations for today’s event. They were well used and very much appreciated. Thank you!!!
Thank you to everyone who came along and gave their time for this service project. The afternoon was filled with Christmas spirit and together we decorated and donated 200 Lions mini fruit cakes. Amazing! PLUS we raised funds for the Australian Lions Childhood Cancer Research Foundation (ALCCRF).
